Highlights
MACROS:
The first pillar of the Silver and Strong System™ is learning about macronutrients, (“macros”), which are made up of protein, carbohydrates and fats. You will learn to plan your daily meals around recommended grams of macros per meal. This process teaches you to make healthy food choices to meet your macro requirements. You will learn how to eat within your macros while living an active, social, healthy lifestyle.
MUSCLES:
Strength training is the second pillar of the Silver and Strong System™. Without strength training, muscle mass decreases approximately 3–8% per decade after the age of 30 and this rate of decline is even higher after the age of 60. The good news is that strength training can help you maintain and rebuild muscle at any age. Even if you’ve never lifted a weight before, it is not too late for you to learn proper form, how to strengthen your muscles and to retain that strength as you age.
MINDSET:
Its often said that the most powerful “muscle” in your body is your brain. How you perceive yourself, your actions, your challenges and your potential for success all affect your outcome. Many of us engage in self-sabotaging activities without being aware we do so. This is why the third pillar of the Silver and Strong System™ focuses on your Mindset. This pillar teaches you the process of becoming aware of your self-perceptions, which often fuel your actions, your likely outcomes and your obstacles. For example, do you look at a task and think “Oh, I could never do that” when you’ve never tried? We will provide tools to help you determine where your potential mindset blocks are and how to overcome them. Being aware is the first step to change. If you change your thinking, your body will follow.
COMMUNITY:
Having the support of a community of your peers can make all the difference of your transformation journey. This why all levels of Silver and Strong coaching include video calls with your community, whether it be others in the one-on-one coaching program of the group coaching program.
In addition, all coaching clients are invited to attend a monthly video call focusing on an important aspect of healthy aging, whether related to your nutrition training or mindset. These monthly calls will be hosted by a Silver and Strong coach and often include a guest speaker.
Another important aspect of the community is the ability of coaching clients to interact with each other. There are Silver and Strong Facebook groups for one-on-one coaching clients, group coaching clients as well as a third group for all clients to interact together.
The importance of a community of your peers cannot be overstated. We believe we are all stronger together. To this end, beginning in the spring of 2025, there will be at least two annual Silver and Strong Retreats. One is the spring in Maui, Hawaii and one in fall in San Diego, California. The size of these retreats will be limited so that personal attention is provided to each participant. The opportunity to participate will first (and always) be offered to Silver and Strong clients.

Do I need access to a gym for training?
We can design a program based on what is available to you, i.e. a home gym or a commercial gym and will provide a list of basic equipment necessary to do our workouts at home if that is your preference.
How long are the sessions?
Weight training or cardio sessions vary depending on your goals and available time. This requirement will be discussed between you and your coach before your initial program is designed; however, on average, during the weight loss phase, the intention is to reach a point where you are weight training 4 to 5 days a week and doing some type of cardio exercise 7 days a week.
What is included?
The Silver and Strong SystemTM consists of three components:
*Weekly macros
*Weekly strength training workouts
*Weekly mindset assignments (generally reading materials)
*Weekly check-ins with your coach, training buddy (if you are part of the group training cohort) and/or weekly group zoom calls.
How many days a week will I be training?
Weight training will likely be 4 to 5 days a week.
Cardio, during weight loss, will likely work up to 7 days a week and be lowered during maintenance or during a build as needed.
